TDP to seek Bharat Ratna for NTR

The Telugu Desam Party will adopt a resolution at its 'mini Mahanadu', suggesting that its founder, the late N T Rama Rao, be conferred with Bharat Ratna, the nation's highest civilian honour.

The resolution is listed on the agenda for May 28,the last day of the two-day session, coinciding with NTR's birth anniversary.

Revenue Minister T Devender Goud, TDP general secretary Lal Jan Basha and politburo member V Sobhanadeswar Rao told reporters that party president N Chandrababu Naidu and other functionaries would pay floral tributes at the 'NTR Ghat' on that day.

NTR's widow Lakshmi Parvathi has been demanding over the last two years, that her late husband be conferred the honour. But the ruling TDP, which was then a constituent of the United Front, had not not taken any steps in this direction.
