New Goa CM to prove majority on Monday

E-Mail this report to a friend

Luizinho Faleiro, who was sworn in as the tenth chief minister of Goa last night, said he would seek the vote of confidence in the assembly on Monday.

Talking to the media in Panaji today, Faleiro said though the state governor has given him 21days to prove his majority, he preferred to seek the mandate of the house on Monday itself. That would be the only agenda in the house, he pointed out.

The chief minister said he would also expand his cabinet on the same evening after seeking the trust vote. The ruling Congress has claimed a strength of 20 including two independents in the house of 40, excluding the speaker who is a Congressman.

The chief minister said he would proceed to New Delhi tomorrow and call on party chief Sonia Gandhi and other senior leaders.

He said he held a meeting with the senior secretaries today and advised them to streamline the administration and make it people-oriented and people-friendly.
