Thackeray set on giving farmers free power

E-Mail this report to a friend

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has stuck to his resolve to provide free power to farmers in Maharashtra.

The farmers should get free power, Thackeray reiterated in Pune on Friday evening while addressing a rally after inaugurating the Lokseva Sahakari Bank Ltd that has been started at the behest of Shiv Sena legislator Deepak Paigude.

Thackeray said the joint coordination committee meeting of the alliance partners held last evening to deliberate on the issue was held under a cordial atmosphere and the discussions were fruitful.

However, since the modalities of providing free power have not been finalised, nothing in this regard could be announced, Thackeray claimed.

This, he lambasted, was interpreted to mean that there were rifts in the alliance partnership. There could be differences of opinion but it should not be interpreted as a rift in the partnership, Thackeray stated. He alleged that the media was purposely trying to project the difference of opinions as a rift in the partnership so as to get a ''good copy.''

In fact, Thackeray sought to convey that the partnership had evolved so strong during its ruling tenure of over three years so as to spearhead a number of positive developments that had brought progress to the state.

However, these positive developments have been systematically ignored by the media in order to show the alliance in poor light Thackeray alleged.
