Recovery of minor girl's corpse leads to fresh tension in Patna

E-Mail this report to a friend

On the heels of a minor girl's gang-rape on Dussehra day, the recovery of an abandoned body of a nine-year-old girl, allegedly a victim of gang-rape, under Chowk police station of East Patna, has triggered off fresh outrage in Patna.

Irate residents blocked traffic in the area to protest against the incident, and demanded the arrest of the accused.

The police were yet to confirm the rape as they were awaiting the post-mortem report from the Nalanda Medical College. Security, however, has been beefed up in the city in the wake of this incident.

Meanwhile, another 17-year-old daughter of an ex serviceman, allegedly gang-raped by three neighbours in absence of her father in her own house early on Thursday, committed suicide in Jehanabad police station.

The victim left a suicide note to her father before consuming poison and rushed to the police station where she named the rapists and died.

The three youths were promptly arrested and the body was sent for autopsy. The Naxalite-infested Jehanabad district headquarters town was reported peaceful following this incident, the police said.
