Floods in Bhandara, Gadchiroli

Heavy rains lashed eastern Vidarbha during the last 24 hours, disrupting normal life.

Officials in Nagpur said the authorities had sounded an alert as the waters of the Vainganga river inundated several villages in Bhandara and Gadchiroli districts.

The river is flowing five feet above the Kardha bridge on the Bombay-Calcutta highway.

Further, the waters have encircled Wadegaon, Khasa, Bramhantola and Hajitola villages in Gondia tehsil, Bapera, Umarwada, Wamani, Bori, Margaon and Chargaon villages in Tumsar tahsil and Mundhari in Mohadi tehsil - all in Bhandara district.
