Colonel killed in J&K

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

An army colonel and his two bodyguards were killed by militants at Keygam while seven militants were gunned down by troops at Rafiabad in north Kashmir since last evening.

Official sources said militants attacked Colonel Balbir Singh barely 100 meters from an army camp at Keygam in the frontier district of Kupwara at around 1000 hours today. Details of the attack were awaited.

The sources said the security forces have launched a massive hunt in the forest area of Nutushu to nab the militants responsible for the attack on the army camp yesterday.
