2 killed as NSCN factions clash

E-Mail this report to a friend

Security measures have been beefed up in Mokokchung district of Nagaland following clashes between two rival factions of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland that left at least two people killed and three injured.

Official sources said stringent measures were being taken in the wake of sporadic clashes and the movement of armed cadres of both the factions.

Sources said the NSCN factions were involved in a gun battle in Kumlong ward of Mokokchung town, 165 kilometres from Kohima, last evening.

The incident occurred after the security forces left the area at around 1730 hours.

This is the second factional clash in the area in a week. Last Thursday both these factions clashed in the same area, in which one person was killed and another injured.

The elders of the locality met the leaders of both the factions camping in the area and urged them not to indulge in activities which created panic and threatened innocent lives, the sources added.
