The all-party meeting held this morning to discuss the hijack of IC 814, has left the final decision on what needed to be done on the government.

The long-awaited meeting was expected to take concrete decisions to defuse the crisis, including the question of releasing Maulana Masood Azhar, but it came away without a solution.

According to political parties present at the meeting, such a crucial decision was the government's and the government's alone. However, they cautioned the government that whatever decision it takes must be taken keeping in mind the interests and safety of the passengers who were on board the star-crossed aircraft.
