CBI teams leave for Amritsar, KathmanduTarashankar Sahay in New Delhi The Central Bureau of Investigation has rushed two high-level teams to Kathmandu and Amritsar to probe the hijacking of Indian Airlines flight IC 814 on December 24. Sources said the team, which is now on its way to Kathmandu, will look into the circumstances that led to the hijacking. Indian security agencies are already in possession of information regarding the movement of the hijackers in Kathmandu before they boarded the Indian Airlines flight. They are believed to have used satellite phones to speak to someone in Pakistan before they boarded the flight. In Amritsar, the CBI team will focus on the lapses, if any, on the part of civil and police administrations in dealing with the situation arising out of the hijacked plane's brief stopover there. The team will try to ascertain whether the officials at Amritsar let go of an opportunity to mount a crack commando operation. It will also find out if it was possible to prevent the plane taking off again.
