Ayodhya accused summoned for framing charges

Special Judge (Central Bureau of Investigation) J P Srivastava, who is hearing the Ayodhya demolition case, Thursday directed all 49 accused either to appear in person before him on February 19 for framing charges, or bring a stay order.

CBI special counsel P K Chabbe, assisted by Arun Kumar Mittal and Arun Sinha, argued that 33 of the 49 persons accused in the case had filed four criminal revisions before the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court against the special judge's summons for framing charges.

The revision petitions were pending before the high court and Justice Jagdish Bhalla was hearing arguments. But he had not stayed the proceedings of the trial court.
