No talks with Pak: Mahajan

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Pramod Mahajan today reiterated that India would not hold any talks with Pakistan, until its troops withdraw from Kargil.

Talking to newspersons at a meet-the-press programme at the Jammu Press Club, Mahajan said: "There will be no talks with Pakistan at official level."

When his attention was drawn to the reports that India had assured Pak emissary Niaz Naik that New Delhi may consider providing safe passage to infiltrators, if Pakistan announces their pull out from Indian territory, the minister said: ''It is not the official version of the Indian Government. We have given them no such assurance.''

Mahajan said Naik's visit was essentially private in nature, but admitted that such visits could prove important to bring an end to hostilities.
