HVP may split as 2 more ministers quit

E-Mail this report to a friend

The 38-month-old Bansi Lal-led Haryana Vikas Party government suffered another jolt with two more ministers resigning from the ministry today amid reports of an imminent split in the ruling party.

Public Works Minister Karan Singh Dalal and Labour Minister Ramesh Kaushik submitted their resignation letters to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Attar Singh Saini when the latter had gone to hand over to them a party whip for tomorrow's assembly session. Refusing to accept the whip, both the ministers handed over their resignation letters to him.

Earlier, Minister of State for Agriculture Jaswant Singh Bawal and Minister of State for Fisheries Azad Mohhammed had faxed their resignation letters to Governor Mahabir Prasad late last night, Raj Bhavan sources confirmed today.

Besides, two former ministers Narbir Singh and Brij Mohan Singla had already raised a banner of revolt against the chief minister, asking him to resign saying that he had no moral right to continue in the office as the government has been reduced to a minority after withdrawal of support by the Congress on July 16.
