PUCL alleges Andhra police killed two Naxals in fake encounter

E-Mail this report to a friend

People's Union for Civil Liberties president K G Kannabiran Friday alleged that the police have murdered two Naxalites, who were arrested in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district on March 6.

In a statement in Hyderabad, he said the police arrested P Ramachandran, Veeraswamy and Bhujanga Rao from Mantralayam. Ramachandran, hailing from Tamil Nadu, was released later. Newpaper reports, quoting the police, said two unidentified Naxalites were killed in an encounter at a village in Mahboobnagar district on March 7.

The police claim about the encounter is not true, Kannabiran said.

The PUCL president said he received information about the killings Thursday, and has sent a fax to the director general of police requesting his intervention.
