Rajya Sabha adjourned again over Bhagwat issue

For the second successive day today, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day without transacting any business as the Opposition brought the proceedings to a grinding halt, demanding an immediate discussion on the charges levelled by sacked naval chief Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat.

''We want JPC (joint parliamentary committee),'' the Opposition members, belonging to the Congress, the Left parties and other groups shouted in chorus, soon after the question hour ended.

All attempts by Chairman Krishan Kant to restore order went in vain, forcing him to adjourn the House for the day.
