LS, RS adjourned

Both the houses of Parliament were adjourned today without transacting any business.

The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the second successive day as the Opposition brought the proceedings to a grinding halt demanding an immediate discussion on the charges levelled by sacked naval chief Admiral Vishnu Bhagwat.

''We want JPC (joint parliamentary committee),'' the Opposition members belonging to the Congress, the Left parties and other groups shouted in chorus soon after the question hour ended.

All attempts by Chairman Krishan Kant to restore order went in vain, forcing him to adjourn the House for the day.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned thrice, as a vociferous Opposition demanded immediate withdrawal of certain circulars relating to the reservation of jobs for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
