HC rejects anticipatory bail pleas of 4 ATCs

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Bombay high court today rejected the anticipatory bail applications of four air traffic controllers, who had agitated by observing 'work-to-rule' during February. They were later taken into custody by the police.

Justice M S Patankar rejected the bail applications of secretary of the ATC Guild, P N Bahuguna and three other members of the guild, Manoj Kumar, P Srinivas and S Gupta. The four had observed 'work- to-rule' from February 1 to 18. Their bail applications were earlier rejected by the principal sessions judge A S Aguiar.

A complaint had been registered against them by the airport police station in Santacruz, in north-west Bombay charging them with deliberately disturbing the smooth flow of air traffic, which put the passengers and cargo at risk. They moved to the high court after the sessions court rejected their bail applications.
