E-Mail this report to a friend

Elaborate security arrangements have been made in view of the 12-hour 'Bihar bandh' tomorrow, called jointly by Bharatiya Janata Party and Samata Party to demand the resignation of Chief Minister Rabri Devi for the brutal killing of 34 people in Jehanabad district on Thursday last.

Official sources said adequate security measures had been taken in vulnerable and sensitive pockets of the state.

Sources said central paramilitary forces, including some companies of the Rapid Action Force, would also be deployed in a few areas, apprehending violence by the bandh supporters.

Meanwhile, leader of opposition in the state assembly Sushil Kumar Modi, and several BJP leaders have urged other political parties opposed to the state government to extend their full support to tomorrow's bandh.

The BJP leaders also called on the people for their cooperation during the bandh period to lodge their peaceful protest against the killing of innocent people in the name of extremist violence.
