Two securitymen killed in encounter with ultras

Two security personnel and three militants were killed in separate encounters in Udhampur and Poonch districts of Jammu region since last evening.

An official spokesman said Border Security Force personnel and the local police conducted a combined operation at village Dalwa in Mahore area of Udhampur district last evening to nab militants and their sympathisers.

During the operation, the militants shot at the search party which returned fire. Two militants and a BSF jawan were killed while an equal number of jawans were injured in the incident.

The militants were yet to be identified. The deceased BSF jawan was constable Sohan, while the two injured ones are constables Rama Shanker (BSF) and Irshad Malli (Special Task Force).

In another encounter at village Azmatabad in Thana Mandi area of Poonch district last evening, a militant and a jawan were killed while two other security personnel were injured.

Some arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, the spokesman added.
