Mulayam will not join BJP-led alliance: Fernandes

E-Mail this report to a friend

Samata Party president George Fernandes has ruled out the possibility of the Samajwadi Party joining the newly formed National Democratic Alliance.

"I do not hope (SP chief) Mulayam Singh Yadav will join the alliance," Fernandes told the media. "Mulayam Singh's politics is poles apart from ours.'' He, however, said the Samajwadi Party was not unwelcome to the alliance.

Fernandes said individual parties forming the NDA would contest the elections on their own symbol though the manifesto would be common.

The manifesto would seek to accommodate regional issues and programmes in case any of the partners so desires, he said.
