Call AICC meet to end crisis, Kamal Nath tells CWC

E-Mail this report to a friend

Former Union minister and prominent Congress leader Kamal Nath today appealed to the Congress Working Committee to convene a meeting of the All India Congress Committee to discuss the resignation of Sonia Gandhi as party president.

''The CWC should not, must not and cannot accept her resignation, and, therefore, it should call an AICC meeting at the earliest to discuss the issue,'' he said in a statement.

The attack of the three CWC members -- Sharad Pawar, P A Sangma and Tariq Anwar -- was prompted by their conviction that the Congress would win the elections and they would be sidelined, he said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is also sure that the Congress is heading for a massive victory in the coming Lok Sabha polls, and that is why they are targeting Sonia personally, he said.
