Saffron threat to Bansi Lal govt

The survival of the three-year-old Bansi Lal government in Haryana is in serious doubt as the 11-member-strong Bharatiya Janata Party has threatened to withdraw support to it.

An emergency meeting of the BJP legislatures has been called today to take a final decision on the withdrawal of support to the Haryana Vikas Party-led coalition government.

The BJP state leadership is likely to send their recommendation to the central leadership today.

Party sources told UNI that the dictatorial attitude of Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal and non-consideration of the BJP's demands were among the main reasons for the move.

At present, the HVP-BJP combine, which has 44 legislators, enjoys the support of eight independents in the 90-member house.

The Indian National Lok Dal is the second largest party in the assembly with 23 members while the Congress has 12 legislators.
