Sachin's father cremated

E-Mail this report to a friend

The last rites of Professor Ramesh Tendulkar, father of Indian ace batsman Sachin Tendulkar, were performed at the Shivaji Park electric crematorium in Bombay at 0630 hours today.

Sachin's father had passed away on Tuesday night following a massive cardiac arrest. He had been ailing for the past few months.

The funeral procession began from 'Sahitya Sahavas', the Tendulkars' residence in Bandra East, and wound its way to the crematorium.

The last rites were performed by the departed litterateur's eldest son Nitin.

A sombre-looking Sachin seemed to be calm and collected as his father's mortal remains were put in the electric crematorium.

Selection Committee chairman Ajit Wadekar, Sachin's close friend Vinod Kambli and former chief minister and Mumbai Cricket Association president Manohar Joshi were among the crowd of around 150 who accompanied the procession.
