At least 10 people were injured, two of them seriously, when an improvised explosive device exploded inside a shop in the Jawahar Nagar area of Rajouri district last evening.

An official spokesman said today that the IED went off inside a medical shop in the town, injuring 10 persons including the shop owner.

The seriously injured were airlifted to the Government Medical College of Jammu.

Other injured persons were admitted to the sub-district hospital, Rajouri. Their condition is reportedly stable, he said.

Immediately after the blast, Rajouri Deputy Commissioner B A Runyal and other senior police and administrative officers rushed to the spot for rescue operations.
