Naidu invites Clinton to Hyderabad

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday invited the United States President Bill Clinton to Hyderabad during his forthcoming visit to India early next year.

Naidu requested the US Ambassador to India Richard F Celeste to use his good offices in getting Hyderabad included in Clinton's itinerary in the first visit by a US president to the country after a gap of 22 years.

The chief minister made the plea while participating at an interactive meeting here with a 20-member US business delegation led by Richard Celeste. The latter promised to convey the request to the US president. "I will try, I cannot give any assurance," he told Naidu.

Chandrababu Naidu said that Andhra Pradesh ranked fifth among the Indian states in terms of foreign investment. His goal was to make Andhra Pradesh occupy the first place in this respect. Five years ago, Andhra Pradesh was ranked 22nd among all the states in the matter of investment potential.

As far as information technology is concerned it ranks second, next only to Maharashtra, having edged out Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
