'I was accompanying the then Foreign Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on a trip to China. Vajpayee left Beijing the day after China attacked Vietnam. I went to Phnom Phen. Only five Indian journalists were given visas by the Vietnamese embassy because India had shown solidarity with them. Since I was the only photographer, I was able to get the first pictures from there.'
