12 killed in bus mishap in HP

Twelve people, including two women and two children, were killed and 57 others injured, most of them seriously, when a state-run bus fell into a 100-metre deep gorge at Khushnagri on the Chamba-Bairagarh highway, about 70 kilometres from Chamba in Himachal Pradesh today.

The bus, which was carrying about 70 passengers, was going from Chamba to Bairagarh. The accident occurred at 1120 hours.

The bus fell into the gorge while negotiating a sharp curve, official sources said.

The injured were taken to hospitals in Chamba and in nearby Tissa town.

Minister of state for ayurveda, Mohan Lal, rushed to the accident site along with district officers and a team of doctors to supervise relief work.
