Ramesh Thackeray, younger brother of Sena chief, dead

The youngest brother of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, Ramesh Thackeray, died today of cardiac arrest. He was 60 and a bachelor. The end came this morning while he was sleeping.

He stayed with his sister at Ghatkopar in north-east Mumbai and did not share a cordial relationship with the Sena chief and his family.

Ramesh Thackeray had worked as a freelance journalist and he headed the Human Awareness Society.

He had also filed several public interest litigations in the Bombay High Court majority of which were rejected by the court.

The funeral will take place at 1600 hrs today at Ghatkopar which would be attended by the top Sena leadership, the family sources said.
