Friends, relatives mourn Bhatia's deathThe man who captured live moments on camera and brought them to people across the country was lying still on Friday while colleagues were clicking photographs of him. As soon as the body of Pradeep Bhatia, senior photographer of The Hindustan Times, who was killed in a car bomb explosion in Srinagar on Thursday, arrived at the Press Club in New Delhi, hordes of journalists encircled it, chanting 'Pradeep Bhatia Amar Rahe'. The body was kept at the club's ground, for journalists and photographers to pay last respects to the departed soul. Lensman and videographers captured the moments as the deceased's wife Suparna and relatives wept inconsolably. K K Birla, chairman of The Hindustan Times and editor Vir Sanghvi, led employees in paying their last respect to Bhatia. While the body was being taken for cremation, journalists and photographers shouted anti-Pakistan slogans. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley and Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Omar Abdullah were among dignitaries who laid wreaths on Bhatia's body. Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Narender Modi and senior Congress leader Madhavrao Scindia also paid tributes. PTI |
