Three killed in Bombay blast

Three persons, including two children, lost their lives, while four others, including a woman, were injured in a blast at Annanagar hutments at Sahar village in Bombay early on Saturday morning.

According to police reports, the blast occurred 500 metres from a petrol pump at 0030 hours IST, when a cache of gunpowder in a hutment near Lelewadi blew up, killing brothers Vijay Thakur (3) and Ajay (5), while charring to death another 35-year-old man.

The Bombay police confirmed that the blast was at the house of a crane operator from the film industry. According to the police, the powder was to be used for 'fireball' effects in films.

Top officials have gone to the spot and inquiries are being conducted.

The injured, who include the mother of the children, Silvie (22), Pappu Kumar Silvan (13), Mukesh Kumar Silvan (22) and Shiv Kumar Chaudhary (22) were taken to Cooper hospital.
