E-Mail this report to a friend

A division bench of the Calcutta high court has directed New India Television to serve notice to a woman who moved a court seeking a ban on the programme Kaun Banega Corepati.

Debasmita Sridhar contended that the programme was like gambling and sought a ban on it.

Justice Asoke Kumar Ganguly passed an injunction on the telecast of the programme.

New India Television had moved the division bench of the court challenging the order.

The division bench comprising chief justice A K Mathur and Justice Barin Ghosh passed an order staying the injunction.

The matter will be heard on September 8.
