Tragedy averted in J&KSecurity forces averted a major tragedy in Jammu division by detecting and neutralising an Improvised Explosive Device on Sunday. In other incidents, they killed seven hardcore militants in encounters and arrested three Pakistani intruders, official sources said on Monday. Troops averted a major tragedy with the timely detection and neutralisation of an IED on a village track between Gharad and Ojhan in Rajouri district on Sunday evening. The IED was kept in a tiffin carrier and was fitted with a battery and transistor, the sources said. One ultra was killed and another injured in two separate encounters with security forces at Molasar and Patharban in Poonch district on Monday. Arms and explosives were recovered from them, the sources said. Security forces shot dead two militants of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba in an encounter at Bachaiwali village of Poonch district on Sunday, the sources said. One militant of the Hizbul Mujahideen Pir Panjal Regiment was shot dead by troops at Naka Majari village, they said. Troops gunned down three hardcore ultras in the Ludharmar and Khour forests in Udhampur district on Sunday evening. An army patrol nabbed three Pakistani intruders with 6.75 kilograms of heroin in Samba tehsil. They have been identified as Abbas and Maqsood from Nawan Pind and Iqbal of Chattri. PTI |
