out of Maharashtra govt

Prakash Ambedkar, leader of the Bharatiya Republican Party-Bahujan Mahasangh has decided to part ways with the Democratic Front government in Maharashtra.

The BRP-BMS has three legislators and a ministerial slot in the state government.

"We are withdrawing from the government as we do not want to be part of a government which does not bother to hear the views of smaller parties," Ambedkar announced in Nagpur, where the state assembly is in session.

However, Ambedkar did not state whether he will also withdraw support to the government.

"We wanted the Enron project to be scrapped and also to be heard on forming a separate state of Vidarbha," Ambedkar said. "But no one seems to be interested in it."

He also stated that BRP-BMS minister Makharam Pawar will submit his resignation to Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh in Nagpur on Thursday.
