Defranchise Muslims: Thackeray

Reiterating stiff opposition to his party's decade long ally Bharatiya Janata Party's policy of appeasing Muslims, Thackeray said in an interview to party mouth-piece Saamna, "It might be their (BJP's) stance but I have not accepted it."

Claiming that vote-bank politics was chiefly responsible for the wooing of the minorities, he said, "Take away the right of franchise of Muslims. Then all political outfits will become pro-hindutva."

The Sena chief also expressed his displeasure against BJP-led National Democratic Alliance's decision to allow Muslims to offer namaz at a mosque near the historical Taj Mahal.

"Will you allow namaz at the Kutub Minar?" he asked.

The Sena chief, however, softened his stance towards Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee saying 'lack of numerical strength in the Lok Sabha has made Vajpayee to adopt a moderate stance'.

"If he (Vajpayee) remains moderate even after his party comes to power on its own, then I will not spare him," Thackeray said.

To a query he refused to comment on the bickering between the BJP and the Sangh Parivar.
