6 girls from Bombay killed in mishap

Six girls from Bombay were killed and six were injured when a vehicle in which they were travelling collided head-on with a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation bus on the Aurangabad-Nashik road, about five kms from Devgaon Rangari on Friday.

About 50 devotees belonging to the Swami Narayan faith were on their way for a religious camp in Aurangabad. The group, associated with the Swaminarayan Mandir Trust from Bombay left from Dadar in four jeeps and a bus.

The mishap occurred when the jeep was trying to overtake the bus headed towards Nashik.

The dead have been identified as Preeti Rathod (19), Yogini Patel (18), Dipali Popat (20), Bina Trivedi (18), Purvi Chitroda (30), Jagruti Patel (20) and the driver Satish Chavan (25).

Usha Darji (22) suffered severe injuries and is reported to be in a critical condition.

The injured have been admitted to the government medical college and hospital in Aurangabad.
