E-Mail this report to a friend

The Bombay police arrested on Friday five Chhota Shakeel aides involved in murder of Shiv Sena shaka pramukh Vivek Kelkar and the attempt on the life of a builder, P Bindra.

Kelkar was shot dead on December 9 last year at Andheri in northwest Bombay, while Bindra, a builder residing at Mahakali, MIDC, was attacked on March 16 after he failed to pay up extortion money, police said on Saturday.

The five gangsters were also involved in an attempt to shoot down estate agent Vivek Patil, police said.

They were also involved in the murder of an STD booth owner, Shabbir Khan, at Mira Road on February 6, the murder of Anwar Mohammad at Bhayandar, and an attempt to murder a Chinese food stall owner Aziz Malik at Andheri on November, 10, 1999.

Two of the five gangsters were sharpshooters hailing from Madhya Pradesh and had no criminal record in the city, police added.
