E-Mail this report to a friend

Police in Uttar Pradesh districts bordering Nepal have been alerted following a report that 147 Kashmiri girls, trained in destructive activities, may pass through Gorakhpur, on their way to Pakistan via Nepal to help the Inter Services Intelligence carry out terrorist activities in India.

According to Gorakhpur Deputy Inspecter General of Police, these girls were given rigorous training in destructive activities in the Kashmir valley and they were supposed to go to Pakistan to assist the ISI acitivists spread their network in India but failed due to tight security on the border.

The police were alerted that the girls could mix with people in groups or alone and try to sneak through at any time. The police said they are keeping a watch at railway stations, bus stations, hotels and lodges and other public places.

The police also appealed to the people not to touch anything lying unclaimed and immediately inform them as it could be explosive material.

The police are also searching hotels in the city and deployed its intelligence agencies to keep a close watch on girls with Kashmiri looks and accent.

Apprehending law and order problems during the panchayat elections in the state, the police appealed to the public to maintain peace.

The ISI is now using Kashimiri girls to carry out subversive activities, as they could easily mix with women and get a foothold in places they want, the police added.
