In a gruesome incident, a woman employee of the Reserve Bank of India was set on fire in daylight by a person outside the RBI residential quarters near the Maratha Mandir cinema at Bombay Central today.

Vidya Prabhudesai, 41, was doused with kerosene and set ablaze by Rasik Solanki, her acquaintance and a tailor by profession, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal told reporters. Solanki later consumed poison.

Prabhudesai, who suffered 98 per cent burns, was admitted in a critical condition to Kasturba Hospital. The unconscious Solanki is being treated at the B Y L Nair Hospital.
