BJP nominates Sushma to Rajya Sabha

Former Union minister Sushma Swaraj, Surface Transport Minister Rajnath Singh, Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley have been named as BJP nominees for the Rajya Sabha elections by the party's central election commitee.

The Rajya Sabha elections for the 58 seats would be held on March 29 and the party is expected to win 16 seats on the basis of its strength.

The BJP, which had announced a list of 16 nominees, also decided to extend the support to Law and Justice Minister Ram Jethmalani, who had filed his nomination papers from Maharashtra as independent candidate, M Venkaiah Naidu, secretary of the central election committee announced in New Delhi today.

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kailash Joshi and Vikram Verma, former leader of opposition in the assembly, have been nominated from Madhya Pradesh as BJP nominees.

Senior journalist Balbir Punj has been nominated from Uttar Pradesh as the party candidate.
