Indians cross the 1-billion mark

E-Mail this report to a friend

A Correspondent in New Delhi

The one billionth India was born to a Delhi couple this morning at 5 am.

The girl-child was delivered at Delhi's Sajdarjung hospital, and is the second child of Ashok and Anjana Arora.

The couple's first child, a boy, is 4 years old and goes to nursery school.

Ashok Arora works as an assistant in a car shop. The excitement was obviously too much for him, as he sat dazed in the waiting room of the hospital's maternity ward.
