33 get bail in Christian attack case

Additional sessions judge B B Satarle has granted bail to 33 youths on a Rs 5000 personal bond for each, in Nashik yesterday.

All the 33 youths were arrested in connection with the alleged attack on tribal Christians at Abhona village in Kalvan tehsil of Nashik district on May 10.

One Ashok Abraham Budha had filed a complaint in the Abhona police station that about a mob of hundred youths attacked the Adivasi Christians when they watching a documentary film on Jesus Christ at a girls hostel run by Christian missionaries.

The mob ransacked the hostel and damaged the cinema projector and set the cinema screen, three motorcycles, religious books and cassettes on fire. They also damaged a mobile van containing books. In the attack two persons including a woman were injured.

They were granted bail when they were produced before the court yesterday.
