Special flight to leave for Taipei tonight

A special flight to Taipei would leave Hyderabad on Wednesday evening carrying relatives of 12 of the total 14 Indians on board the crashed 747 Singapore Airlines flight, a SA spokesperson said.

A senior assistant general manager of Singapore Airlines has arrived in Hyderabad from Chennai to supervise the travel arrangements, the spokesperson said.

Four persons from each of the 12 families would be taken to Chennai in the evening from where they would board the Madras-Singapore-Taipei flight at 2320 hrs, she said.

Twelve Indians, including two infants, on board the SA flight are from Hyderabad, while two other passengers took the flight from Mumbai and Chennai respectively.

The spokesperson said she had no information about the condition of the 14 Indian passengers, but confirmed that one - Kopaka Somasekhar Varaprasad - had survived.
