Woman killed in UP poll violence

One woman was killed and 11 injured in a bomb blast during the course of polling for local urban bodies election in Varanasi on Monday, police said.

According to an official spokesman two bombs were hurled by unidentified miscreants at about 10.30 am at a polling station in Mashodhara Municipal Higher Secondary School in Varanasi.

"The deceased woman has been identified as Radha Devi (45)," the spokesman said.

The injured have been rushed to a hospital. Two of them are stated to be serious.

No arrests have been made so far.

Polling has been suspended at the school and additional police deployments have been made in the area.
