Accused in Purushotham

Purushotham was murdered while coming out of a provisions store at Madhuranagar in Hyderabad on November 23.

The police team intercepted a vehicle proceeding towards Bangalore on the highway and nabbed the four, city police commissioner S R Sukumara told pressmen.

The murder was stated to be due to a feud between PWG groups, he said. The four former naxals, who were also involved in a kidnap attempt of a city businessmen on November 17 last, confessed their involvement in the murder of the APCLC leader, the commissioner said.

Refuting the allegation of APCLC leaders that the murder was the handiwork of the police, the commissioner said, ''It was clear from investigations that the allegation levelled by APCLC leaders was unfounded and baseless.''

'We are exploring legal options against APCLC leaders for their baseless allegation as it will demoralise the morale of the police,'' Sukumara said.

The four arrested include Bayyapu Sammireddy, former district committee member of PWG, Karimnagar, Khaja Nayeemuddin alias Balanna, Konda Vijaya Kumar alias Raju and Nomula Srinivas and Srinu.

Later, Sammireedy and Nayeem said they have eliminated Purshotham as he was hatching a plan to kill them with the help of a PWG action team.
