SP wins Karhal assembly seat

Anil Yadav, Samajwadi Party candidate from Karhal assembly seat, where by-polls were held on September 29, on Tuesday defeated his Bharatiya Janata Party rival Sobaran Singh Yadav by a margin of over 26,000 votes, official sources said.

Yadav retains the seat for his party. It was vacated after the death of Anil's father and senior SP leader Babu Ram Yadav.

Anil polled 57,252 votes while his BJP rival got 31,102 votes, the sources said.

Bahujan Samaj Party nominee Savita Chauhan stood at number three polling 20,062 votes, they said.
