Dead leopard's skin peeled off in AP

Barely a week after the gruesome killing of a tigress, an equally horrifying incident of peeling the skin of a leopard came to light in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

Police said the skin of a leopard, which died on coming into contact with an electrified farm fence in Vempalli village near Muddanur forest area on Thursday last, was peeled off and its nails taken away by some unidentified persons.

The villagers kept the news a closely guarded secret due to fear and brought it to the notice of police only on Monday, police said.

When contacted on phone, the district police confirmed the incident but gave no further details saying that an investigation was on.

A 13-month tigress Sakhi in Hyderabad's Nehru Zoological Park on October four was killed and its skin peeled off by poachers. The state government had ordered a high level inquiry into the incident.
