NTR's grand-daughter
succumbs to suicide bid

The grand-daughter of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, the late N T Rama Rao, who was battling for life for six days after consuming poison, died at Apollo hospital in Madras late Sunday night.

Kumudhini, 29, was admitted to the intensive care unit on October 24 after she consumed pesticides in an apparent bid to commit suicide, allegedly following estrangement with her husband, Srinath Prasad, son of legendary film-maker, the late L V Prasad.

Kumudhini's father, Jayakrishna, had filed a complaint with the city police against his son-in-law for mentally torturing his daughter. Srinath was arrested but later released on bail.

The couple married in 1993 and lived in the United States until their relationship allegedly soured, following which they returned to Madras.
