Mild tremor rocks Koyna

An earthquake of slight intensity shook parts of Koyna region in Maharashtra early Monday, the meteorological office in New Delhi said.

The tremor, which measured 3.8 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 0529 hrs. The epicentre was 17.3 degree north latitude and 73.7 degree east, according to a release by the meteorological department.

The Koyna region, which has a dam, has witnessed several quakes during the past two decades.
