Venkataswamy Commission proceedings to be 'mostly public'

The proceedings of the Justice Venkataswamy Commission to probe into the Tehelka expose will be "mostly public" except when some sensitive defence matters come up, commission sources said in New Delhi Tuesday.

The hearings, which has begun its administrative procedures, which are likely to be completed by next Monday, will be held in public except when some confidential matters pertaining to security may come up, the sources told PTI.

The sources further said the commission will come out with a public notice whereby any person having knowledge of the matter can come up with suggestions on the working of the commission by early next week.

The working would be very "transparent" as it was dealing with a "very sensitive" issue, the sources said.

The commission, appointed to probe if any illicit gains have been made by persons in public office, individuals or any other organisation as alleged by the portal and if so to what extent, has to complete its probe within four months.
