Eight Hizb militants held in Hyderabad

Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad

The Hyderabad City Police has arrested eight Kashmiri youth, suspected to have connections with the militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen.

City Police Commissioner P Ramulu said the suspects were arrested on Tuesday night after the city police launched a special operation on receiving information about their presence in the city.

"We got reports that a group of Kashmiri students have regular links with militant outfits in Kashmir. We launched a state-wide hunt and found them in Hyderabad. Right now they are being interrogated," he said.

Sources, however, indicated that the entire operation was planned by a team from Delhi police.

The arrested are mostly students who are pursuing their education in various colleges.
