Setback for Ajit Singh, RLD MP quits party

The Rashtriya Lok Dal, led by Union Agriculture Minister Ajit Singh, received a jolt when one of its two Members of Parliament, Amir Alam Khan, on Monday announced his resignation from the party in protest against its decision to join the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance.

In a statement from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, Khan said he would not join any party and expressed full faith in the ideology of late Chowdhary Charan Singh, Ajit Singh's father.

Khan represents Kairana constituency in the Lok Sabha.
